For people using Mac operating systems, Pixelmator is a program that is recommended by many users. It has a creative and stunning interface, a wide array of painting tools, and photo correction tools that are easy to use. This is a great choice for those who don't want to pay for or need all the features offered by Photoshop.

An image editing program that seems to becoming more popular and is able to be used on all major operating systems is GIMP, which is the abbreviation for GNU Image Manipulation Program. This software is packed with features and also has a customizable interface. It also comes with a bevy of retouching tools and can output your work in just about any format.
